A sporting figure in a state of play painted loosely on a Studland warm blue board which has a fine surface with good absorption. The mannered style of this figure with this type of board lends itself to a free style of painting. The work was originally painted in 1982 and has had some revision in 2022. I apply the acrylic paint in quite a liquid form as the board absorbs the paint, so there is no need to worry about breaking down the paint binder. I use artists large hogs hair brushes to manipulate the work to give it a robust rendition. The work only needs framing to to make it ready to hang, it should and framed with a mount under glass. This piece comes with an official certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. Ready to Hang: Yes. Signature Location: lower right.

Artist Statement:
I suspect like most figurative artists I find drawing and painting the human form wholly embedded with human behaviour. The desire to secure more than a representation of a persons movement, the spilling of light over contours or the various other physical facets is the reason we continue to make paintings. To liberate a recognisable emotion in texture, colour and pattern and to make it still, perhaps this is a measure of a successful painting.
