It takes dedication to maintain a physique like this, the title is a reference both to that and to the Cornish gym that this man owns. At his sitting, I had him doing all sorts of exercise that would illustrate his body. As he was clearing some space, he picked up this enormously heavy battle rope and slung it over his shoulder as if it were nothing...and so the moment was captured. I like the chalk dust on his hair and hands, the flash of yellow in the rope that match his sweat bands, his profile showing the man bun. Most of all, despite his build, it shows that he is a gentle giant. Deep edge canvas, edges painted black.

Presentation
I am a figurative painter. I love people, they fascinate me.Some would say I paint "ordinary" people, but to me evrybody is extraordinary. Everyone has a story to tell, and that is what I love the most- to capture a little piece of that.
I love to paint skin, it is, to me beautiful, regardless of age, shape, size or colour.I love the tones, folds, creases and curves.
I paint in oils. I love the sexy fluidity of the paint, the richness of tone and the delicious smells that the process creates- with the linseed, turpentine and spirit.
Education:
I was very fortunate to have been taught through my school years by Vincent Wilson RA, member of the Newlyn School of Art, he will always remain my source of inspiration.
I have self developed since school.
