Wioletta Jaskólska is a Polish painter and professor, born on February 27, 1969, in Lidzbark Warmiński, Poland. She graduated from the Faculty of Arts at the Higher Pedagogical School (WSP) in Olsztyn and the Faculty of Arts at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin. She obtained her habilitation in 2010 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
For over 30 years, Jaskólska has been active in the art scene, presenting her works in numerous galleries and cultural institutions in Poland and abroad. She has participated in more than 100 solo and group exhibitions in cities such as Warsaw, Perugia, Zagreb, Marseille, Châteauroux, Kraków, Dobre Miasto, Brussels, and Berlin.
Her work is characterized by a deep reflection on the relationships between color and form, as well as by blurring the boundaries between abstraction and figuration. She is particularly recognized for her "vedute" – representations of urban landscapes – where she immortalizes cities such as Paris, Birmingham, Siena, Lisbon, Salzburg, Warsaw, and Lidzbark Warmiński. Her often monochromatic works capture the essence of functional architecture, paying tribute to modernist structures and the aesthetics of the Polish People's Republic era.
In addition to her artistic practice, Jaskólska has played a significant role as a curator, organizing various workshops and exhibitions, including the "Plener Grunwald ART" in 2009, 2010, and 2011. She also served as director of the Ośrodek Kultury i Aktywności Lokalnej in Bisztynek from 2015 to 2020, and since September 1, 2020, has been the director of the Centrum Edukacji i Inicjatyw Kulturalnych in Olsztyn.
In recognition of her contributions to art and culture, she has received several distinctions, including the "Medal Zasłużony dla Kultury Polskiej" in 2014 and the title of professor of arts in 2021, awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland. Currently, Wioletta Jaskólska continues to share her passion for art as a professor at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, where she inspires and educates the next generation of artists.
