The language of Marie Amédro's paintings is similar to a silent writing, marked by an inner mystery. Marie Amédro does not seek to reproduce the reality that surrounds her faithfully, but rather to feed on it in order to detach herself better. Through her sketches, she lets her mind wander, guided by the curves of a plant, the play of shadows or the subtle shapes of an everyday object. These elements of his environment are only starting points, fleeting inspirations that, once transcribed, lose their attachment to the concrete world to become purified forms, almost abstract. This process of creation, free from any figurative constraints, is an invitation to the imaginary.
The sand, the artist's favourite material, also undergoes a metamorphosis. Long relegated to the role of final element, applied flat to play on transparencies or emphasize a form, it now acquires a central status. With the creation of a new technique, sand edging, Marie Amédro reinvents the way in which this material unfolds on the canvas. Now, it is around the sand that the composition is organized, the shapes and colors coming to exalt it, rather than subjugating it to a secondary role. This evolution marks a turning point in his creative process, where the search for relief, so dear to the artist, is interwoven into a new harmony.
In the work of Marie Amédro, colour is revealed as a vital breath, a secret pulse that animates her compositions. To understand the depth of his chromatic choices, we must go back to the origins of his inspiration: a wonder for the metabolism of trees, discovered at the turn of a reading that marks a turning point in his artistic career. From then on, his paintings have taken up the symbolism of nature, adopting colors evocative of essential elements of life. Red, burning earth, carries in it a nourishing power. Blue, liquid and fluid, embodies water, this primordial source of all existence. The green, vibrant with chlorophyll, pays homage to plant life, while the solar yellow embraces light and its infinite possibilities.
Getting the right shade is for Marie Amédro a game of balance, a sensitive quest where each nuance becomes an invitation to feel. In his work, colour is not only a visual element, it is a breath, a breath that crosses the canvas and makes it vibrate with its own energy. The monochrome, which she explores often, becomes a space where the subtlety of a single hue reveals all its richness. Its colors have the delicacy to capture a moment of freshness, a light breeze, a quiet peace. They are not just an aesthetic choice, but an emotional search, a way to calm the mind and soothe the eyes.
This year, as doubts and questions were passing through her, Marie felt a growing need for sweetness. His palette, once more vibrant, has gradually changed into a symphony of pastels. These softer, almost whispered shades undoubtedly reflect this quest for serenity, this need to find a form of refuge in colour.

Rising from the current of geometric abstraction that she links to an ecological sensitivity, Marie Amédro draws her main source of inspiration from the Tree. It was a reading that sparked this curiosity about trees: The Secret Life of Trees, by Peter Wohlleben. From this reading were born the first geometric sketches. “The inner workings of the tree remind me of a flawless organization, which is why I like to play with shapes, symmetry and verticality to create. But shapes have little meaning without color. The combination of the two brings the final touch to the works: the idea of movement, energy and vitality. I also use collage to showcase the bark of the tree which protects the sap from the outside environment. "
For Marie Armédro the tree has a fragile, intelligent and mysterious side that breaks with the image of strength and vigor that sticks to its bark!
Painting, collage or drawing constitute his artistic universe. His intention is to bring his ideas to life by plastically transposing them onto wood, canvas, paper, cardboard ... His seemingly minimalist works carry a story full of meaning. “I like elegance in art. I like that the lines are perfectly straight, that the shapes are correctly identifiable and that the colors do not fight to find their place on the canvas. But I also need my works to not just look good. I need them to mirror an idea or a story and arouse the viewer's curiosity by inviting them to interpret. "
