He also draws inspiration from memories of his childhood spent in the Fens of East Anglia, a region of vast skies and distant horizons. These powerful images remain at the heart of his art.
In addition to painting, Stopforth is a writer and poet. He recently published a book about his work, . His work has been exhibited in the UK and abroad, including several times at the Royal West of England Academy.
