Presentación
Nacida en 1964, Emmanuelle Barbaras es una fotógrafa francesa. Después de obtener una licenciatura en psicología, se convirtió en fotógrafa independiente en 1984. Trabaja para la prensa, la comunicación y la publicación. Apasionada por África y muy comprometida con el tema de la mujer, elabora numerosos informes que combinan los dos temas. Fotógrafa social, trabajó durante años en la lucha contra el sida en el mundo y la lucha contra la escisión en África. A través de sus fotografías, explora la intimidad y realiza investigaciones sobre el desnudo masculino y femenino, así como sobre las parejas. Expone sus imágenes en Francia y en Europa. Ganó el premio Leica por su trabajo sobre el cuerpo, luego la Villa Medici extramuros por su informe sobre el sida en el mundo. Es autora de dos libros: SIDA, gestos y miradas con la asociación SIDA y Nuestras niñas no serán extirpadas con la asociación GAMS. Miembro de la agencia Rapho, entonces de la agencia Editing, ahora colabora con la casa de fotógrafos Signatures, con el firme convencimiento del interés de una ética común en la fotografía. Prepara un libro íntimo sobre el desnudo masculino que cuestiona la representación del cuerpo en la sociedad.
