Sophie Derrick es una artista británica que explora la frontera entre el mundo de la fotografía y la pintura. Sophie suele pintar sobre su propio cuerpo, luego le toma una fotografía que luego vuelve a trabajar con pintura. Por tanto, actúa como un lienzo, dando a su trabajo una profundidad inusual. Se superponen diferentes capas de pintura, fusionándose así con la fotografía y su objeto. El artista difumina las pistas con colores brillantes y francos, para lograr un resultado final abstracto. Los retratos que escenifica se sumergen en pintura, transformándose en entidades coloreadas.
