Retratistas Escena de vida
Las bailarinas azules (1899) de Edgar Degas puede ser reconocido como uno de los mejores dibujos al pastel de la historia. Figuras vivas, que respiran, capturadas en un momento que pueden haber considerado un vistazo banal a su vida cotidiana. Dibujar del natural, o "dibujar la figura", suele referirse a la clase de instrucción que se imparte en muchas escuelas y academias de bellas artes.
