El medio de la fotografía ha recorrido un largo camino desde su invención en el siglo XIX. Un método empleado con frecuencia por los fotógrafos es la técnica de superposición de fotos. Con esta técnica, los fotógrafos pueden superponer dos imágenes distintas en una sola obra. Mientras que algunos fotógrafos utilizan este método para producir impresionantes imágenes del mundo natural, como fotografías submarinas, otros utilizan la técnica de superposición de fotos para crear obras fotográficas abstractas.
