Artwork location: France

This captivating work of art is a sculpture depicting a mythological figure, often interpreted as Atlas, carrying the world on his shoulders. Made of resin with a bronze-like appearance, the statue is distinguished by its finesse and robustness. The figure's dynamic posture, with tense muscles and raised arms, embodies not only physical strength but also a monumental and eternal effort. What makes this sculpture particularly unique is the way the artist incorporated raised geographic motifs on the sphere representing the world. These meticulous details contrast with the clean simplicity of the figure, creating a fascinating visual balance. The base on which the sculpture rests adds to the visual and physical stability of the whole, while highlighting the interaction between the human and the divine. The verdigris hues of the material accentuate the timeless aspect of the work, giving it a patina that evokes antiquity and permanence. In short, this piece is a celebration of human power and responsibility, captured with masterful technique that will delight art lovers and philosophers alike.

"Atlas, the tetanized titan" is a warning, a confrontation with the catastrophic situation of the world and the destruction of the balances necessary for life on our planet that he denounces with this committed sculpture. Do not hear by this an "ecological" cry or then in two evils, like a logical echo, because sometimes the remedy of those, is worse than the evil that they claim to treat.

Presentation

Born in Paris in 1953, descended from a family from Nice, Arson is a libertarian and transgressive artist. Trained at the Beaux-Arts from the age of 16, he explored painting, architecture, pottery, and sculpture before forging a unique signature, marked by a bold sensuality.

A lover of women, whom he sees as a path to the absolute, Arson celebrates their forms with a fetishistic and poetic gaze. His works, inspired by Duchamp's Dadaism and Magritte's Surrealism, invite us to go beyond appearances. As he says of his Esculmau: "This is not a mirror, nor an ass, it is an Esculmau."

Provocative and anarchist, Arson sculpts raw and decorative pieces that defy taboos and unleash the imagination. His creations, driven by a passion for materials and a reflection on femininity, disrupt the codes of an overly consensual world. In his work, form reveals substance, offering a visual poetry that shakes and amazes.
