Story and message

Doubt is one of the main things that prevents us from acting. Moreover, it drains our energy, when we weigh the options, trying to see all the pros and cons, the possible gains or losses. However, what we often forget is that there can never be a wrong decision made by us. Simply because it is impossible to know what would happen if we chose another option. So yes, embrace the doubt, but realize it is fleeting and let it go once it has served its purpose. Free him like a bird.

Excerpt from my "Resistance" series.

"The more important a call or action is to our soul's evolution, the more resistance we will feel to pursue it." - Steven Pressfield "The War of Art"

Newton's 3rd law of physics says: "To every action, there is always opposed an equal reaction". Often we feel this very concrete law of physics in our psychological struggles. Any attempt to grow, to do something new, to learn and grow will inevitably be met with some kind of backlash. Something, be it our environment, our family, the circumstances, but more often than not our own beliefs and our personal speech, does not allow us to take our next steps and tries to block growth.

This strength, this resistance can take any form: indecision, negative discourse, procrastination, conflicts, fear, doubt, self-sabotage, shame, guilt. This project attempts to metaphorically show all those types of things that can block our creativity and growth. My hope is that every person, faced with any kind of resistance, realizes that ultimately that resistance isn't real and can be shattered like a sheet of paper when you know exactly what you need of growth and why you want to create.

Story

You are about to take one of my works and give it a new home. And that's what I want to share with you.
My art is not for everyone. It will not conquer the masses. But it's for people who value emotional connection, like to reflect, and want to see other realities and perspectives behind mundane things.

My works reflect my journey, that of an artistically curious little girl, fascinated by all that is unusual but who had difficulty fitting in, and that of a woman who found a way to express herself and fully embrace who she is. My art has allowed me to understand that there is nothing impossible in life and that we have the power to create our own reality: to do what we love, to surround ourselves with the right people and to feel the things we we want to feel. Now I want to pass this discovery on to you so you always know that anything is possible.

What is the subject of my art?

I explore themes of emotions, relationships, self-discovery and self-redefinition. Each photograph that you will see here will take you on a journey into the soul of a character and, at the same time, will probably make you think about the events and things in your life that have marked you the most and perhaps changed your life. .

What kind of feeling does it bring to your home?

Peace and quiet. Strength and confidence. A bit of melancholy. With a bit of caprice, mystery and fantasy. It will always be a gentle and quiet reminder that nothing is what it seems and that you always have to go deeper to perceive its true meaning.

how i work

I choose muted tones, strictly curated compositions, clean, minimalist spaces, and lots of symbolism to convey my ideas. Each visual story has a precise plot, but is always open to interpretation.

My process

Each photo requires between a week and several months of planning and preparation: thinking about the story and plot, planning the color palette, sketching, scouting locations, creating props, choosing the appropriate wardrobe, search for suitable make-up and hairstyle, then assembly of the set. In most cases, a whole crew is involved in the filming process. I never use stock images to create my art, I photograph all the details myself, on location. After shooting is complete, post-processing a single image takes an average of 5-7 hours in Lightroom and Photoshop.

About Prints

I choose the most eco-friendly and sustainable materials to create my prints because I care about the world we live in. All works are printed on Hahnemühle Bamboo F paperineArt museum quality (290 gsm, 90% bamboo fiber, 10% cotton) and are Giclée prints with a life expectancy of up to 200 years. All art prints are hand signed by me (front and back) and come with a certificate of authenticity. All unframed prints have a 3 cm (1.2 in) border.

Dasha Pears is an award-winning artist, using conceptual fine-art photography as her main medium. Completely self-taught in photography, she is materializing her life experiences, realizations, feelings, and conclusions about life in surrealistic, sometimes dreamy, clean, and peaceful works. Her style is characterized by unique compositions, restrained color choices, and finishing details that lead to whimsical and clever images.

Dasha's mission in life is to create imagery and inspire others, whether by her artworks or by the act of creation itself. Dasha deeply believes that if more people focus on creation instead of destruction the world will become a better place and there will be less hate, harm, and sorrow.
