Presentation

After devoting a good part of her life to repairing smiles, Sophie decided in 2016 to smile at her life and dedicate it exclusively to creation. Since then she has been enrolled in the public workshops of the Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin in painting, drawing and engraving because she is convinced that a permanent and renewed learning is the guarantee of increased freedom of expression. Its rebirth was initiated in 2015 by the foundation of the Gox'Art Project association, thanks to the complicity of her husband Marc and their local artist friends, in the small village of Goxwiller where Hélène de Beauvoir lived and painted.

The exhibition “Alsace in all its states” which followed marked its roots while advocating dynamism and multicultural richness in the identity turbulence of the moment. His work remains constantly centered on the human, his relationship to himself and to the world. She is fond of staging and installations in order to immerse the public in their imagination and arouse reflections and questions. Memory and freedom are the genesis and the common thread of his creations. She claims this freedom both in her approach to the subject and in the choice of medium used. Painting is her favorite mode of expression, but she does not hesitate to shake up her habits to get in tune with her favorites or her rants. It is a perpetual renewal that opens up a vast field of possibilities. His current pictorial practice consists of symbiotic and ambiguous images that oscillate between tenderness and rejection.

Man has acquired a power to transform the world around him that is both exciting and disturbing. The human brain is capable of conceiving the impossible or dreaming up the absurd. Hybrid beings serve to express these antagonisms. They are unconscious mixtures of desires and anxieties. The chimerical figure presents itself as a screen on which to project all the contradictory emotions using a multitude of colors. The imagination wanders on the canvases through more or less identifiable elements, between reality and fantasy.

Exhibitions:

As a founding member of the Gox'Art Project association, she takes part in their events and gladly opens her studio to other artists. She is also present at various fairs (art3f, ArtShopping, Lunéville International Autumn Fair, Batt'Art, Wiss'Art). Interested in exchanges, she does not hesitate to meet the public in the streets (quai des arts, rives de l'art, rue des arts, O'RempArt), intervenes during artistic mediations (IUT Robert Schuman in Strasbourg) and participates in “Open Workshops”. His engaged work has been featured online by Eco Aware Art Gallery, the Lions Club and can be viewed on Artboxy. Selected during collective exhibitions (DF Art Project, Engrangez de l'Art, CEFPPA in Illkirch, Artcréenvol gallery in Strasbourg, Déod'Art), she has also exhibited individually at the Rathaus Hofweier der Gemeinde Hohberg (Germany), at the Sofitel Strasbourg, in the commercial operations department of Société Générale in Strasbourg, at the Pressoir de Bacchus in Blienschwiller and at L'Osmose in Obernai.
