This bronze and copper sculpture, created by artists Aggelos & Filippos Panayiotidis, reinvents the nobility of the olive tree, a Mediterranean symbol of peace and eternity. Its luminous leaves and hand-painted olives capture the light with intensity, while its powerful double trunk affirms its timeless strength and its reference to love.
The olive tree has stood the test of time as a guardian of roots and sky. This unique sculpture, crafted in bronze and copper, reinvents the majesty of the Mediterranean tree in a refined and timeless work of art.
Its delicate branches, adorned with hammered metal leaves, stretch out elegantly and bear meticulously crafted olives. Each olive is hand-painted in deep shades of green and black, then protected by a transparent acrylic varnish that reveals the light and gives the whole piece a subtle shine.
Measuring 40 cm high and 25 cm wide, this work catches the eye and invites contemplation. Placed on a pedestal, a console table or in the heart of a bright interior, the tree becomes a real focal point, vibrant with energy and poetry.
The olive tree, immortalised here in noble metal, becomes a silent witness to precious moments, an emblem of serenity and strength for collectors in search of authenticity.
Presentation
Aggelos Panayiotidis (born in 1950 in Amphilohia, Greece) is a renowned sculptor, known for his work with metal and olive trees, a universal symbol of peace and eternity. Honoured by UNESCO for his contribution to the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he created his iconic work Olive Tree – Athens' Tree, a bronze and copper monument that has become an Olympic icon and is on permanent display at Technopolis in Athens, with replicas in prestigious institutions such as the Olympic Museum in Lausanne and the United Nations headquarters.
His monumental and poetic sculptures feature in numerous private and public collections in Greece and internationally, including the National Bank of Greece, the Museum of Cycladic Art and the Coca Cola headquarters in Athens and Atlanta. In 2019, he unveiled his largest monumental olive tree at the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne.
Through his works, Aggelos Panayiotidis connects nature, culture and the Olympic spirit, offering collectors powerful and timeless pieces.
Filippos Panayiotidis (born in 1994 in Athens) is a young sculptor who continues and renews the artistic legacy of his father, Aggelos Panayiotidis. Trained from childhood in art and metalwork in the family workshop, he also explored wood carving before becoming, in 2019, co-creator of the monumental olive tree unveiled at the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne.
The 2020 pandemic marked a creative turning point for him, leading him to develop new forms and a personal language. Since then, he has participated in several exhibitions in Greece, notably at the Art Space Gallery in Santorini (2024), Art Thessaloniki and Art Athina.
His sculptures, often marked by the symbol of the olive tree, celebrate peace, strength and the Olympic spirit, and can now be seen in numerous galleries and museums in Greece, Cyprus and the Netherlands.
