In her book "The Art of Post-War Ecole de Paris", Lise Cormery writes on MOON SHIN dit 문신; or, 文信(1923-1995), and PARIS ART OLYMPIADS :
"This drawing has been exhibited during his Solo Show for the 1991 1992 Paris Art Olympiads under the High Patronage of French President Mitterrand and Jacques Chirac, Mayor of Paris. The Paris Art Olympiads was organized by Lise Cormery Gallery for the CNOSF, French Olympic Committee. Moon Shin belonged to the delegation of South Korea. A Solo Show of his abstract drawings and paintings of his sculptures was organized during this international event marking his sculptural research and creations. It was following the famous 1988 Art Olympiads in Seoul, South Korea, where a monumental sculptures Museum in open air and a Museum of International paintings was created for the world competition, in order to invite and show the art of major international artists of the 20th Century. Moon Shin monumental sculpture of 25 meters high was erected in SOMA sculptor park celebrating the 1988 Summer Olympics Seoul and it marked the end of his research and sculptural work created from 1969 until 1980 in Latin Quarter of Paris and Barcarès Museum, Musée des Sables. During his long creation sojourn in Paris, he worked as well on his project of building his own Museum. Since South Korea became the new Eldorado for Private Art Museums, he was able to erect MOON SHIN MUSEUM in Masan, once back to South Korea, it was inaugurated before his death." Lise Cormery

Presentation
Moon Shin (1923-1995) was a South Korean painter and sculptor. He settled in Paris in the 70's with Lia Grambihler who owned her art Gallery in Latin District. She changes his artistic life, by convincing to give up his figurative painting career in order to work into abstraction. Thus and thanks to Lia's work, investment and protection he became recognized as an international artist. He goes back to South Korea in the 80's and Moon Shin Museum will be inaugurated in 1994 in the town of Masan. His art works are in many international public collections and in Seoul Museums. He belongs to the South Korean Selection of Art Olympiads organized by Lise Cormery Gallery for the French Olympic Committee in 1991 and 1992 in Paris. It was following the famous 1988 Art Olympiads in Seoul where Moon Shin represented South Korea with his monumental sculptures we can still admire today. The 1988 Seoul Art Olympiads with its sculpture and painting museums created for the event in order to invite and show the art of major international artists of the century was the idea of Lia Grambihler in order to promote South Korean art at the international level. Her visionary prospective was successful.
