"Crow's Nest" is an original large artwork painted by contemporary artist Susan Wolfe Huppman
"Crow's Nest" drenches the viewer in a dreamlike fog of soft grays and muted blues. Abstract gestural brushstrokes create an ethereal atmosphere, with delicate, swirling gradations of tone suggesting an otherworldly landscape. A striking contrast is provided by splashes of bold orange and red in the foreground, evoking a sense of warmth amidst the cool surroundings. Subtle hints of light yellow peek through the upper portions, contrasting with the piece’s neutral gray depth. These touches lend an impression of dawn breaking over a serene, mist-covered expanse. Presentation
New Orleans native Susan Wolfe Huppman studied Art History at Princeton where she also studied Critical Theory under David Shapiro, himself a student of Meyer Shapiro. She studied painting under Michael David, Harvey Quaytman, Heidi Gluck and Sean Scully, her advisor. She continued her art education at the Maryland Institute College of Art. She currently resides in the state of Maryland, US, on a small farm.
