Artwork location: Germany

Giraffe is an expressive painting of a close up Giraffehead. Splashing Colors in black, white and turquoise on raw canvas. The monochrome color in combination with the soft tone of the canvas develops has a special charm. This painting is one of a kind and is created by me in my studio by Hanover Germany. I used acrylic painting and graphite. The painting is covered with a coat of varnish. Signed on the front and back. The painting comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. The painting is ready to hang.

The painting Giraffe was created in the work series "On the red list". The number of giraffes has fallen sharply over the past 35 years. Just under 70,000 giraffes still roam the savannas. According to the World Conservation Organization, the main causes are poaching and habitat loss. They have been on the Red List as endangered since 2016. The trade in meat, fur or other hunting trophies is now prohibited.

Please note: Room setting is for illustration only and is not exactly to scale. The Colors may vary slightly depending on your screen settings.

Presentation

Artist Statement:

Stefanie is an artist and graphic designer from Germany, who completed her artistic education in Hanover. In addition to abstract pieces, she also paints figurative works.

Her abstract, large format paintings are mostly inspired by seascapes, light, color and rough cliff landscapes. She also likes to use collage techniques that contain materials such as linen and corrugated cardboard. Using layering and glazing, she works out the charm of these lands.

Stefanie's figurative artworks are also expressive and impulsive. They often have social and political ideologies attached, such as in the series, 'Cows Coded', which criticises how animals in our consumer society are treated as commercial goods. In her current series, 'One of the Big Five', she comments on the big game hunting and poaching industry, which threatens many species' extinction.

„Pure imaging of the models is not my interest, there are always also feelings transported. My style is abstract, informal, expressive painting on large canvas. Often I use acrylic, chalk, charcoal which I worked in the paintings. Also I like to collaged works with corrugated board, cotton and burlap. I wish my art could make one see a new view of things and help to see the beauty in everyday things, in small details and in the power of nature. But in my art I also want to critically highlight social themes. My series „Cows coded" criticized the handling of the animals as commercial goods."
