Artwork location: Portugal
Inspired by the paintings of Gustav Klimt, Wild Summer Hullabaloo brings to life an enchanting display of shape and colour, transporting the viewer to a wildflower meadow. The flowers have a simple elegance, their colours dancing at the periphery of ones vision. Constructed of vivid tones of red, yellow and blue inspired by Van Gogh, Wild Summer Hullabaloo creates an impression of warm, sun-drenched days in an overgrown sanctuary of blooming flowers. The landscape comes alive with the vitality of nature's palette and invites the viewer to relax and breathe in the sweet perfume. Created in oil paint, the artwork has an untamed energy mirroring the carefree abandon of the wildflowers yet maintains a soft and gentle composition. The artwork possesses an organic spontaneity and joy reflecting its subject. Wild Summer Hullabaloo is ready to hang.

Presentation
"I create for the challenge, the thrill, the doubt, the belief, the rush...for the love of painting. "
Angie Wright is an established artist from Portugal whose paintings have been featured in solo and group shows internationally. Practicing art ever since she was a child, Wright creates expressionist style botanical works and portraits in acrylic and oil on canvas. She is inspired by nature and aims to represent a neglected beauty in her work through vivid color palettes and energetic mark making techniques.
Education:
My very first experience, of which I have only fractured memories was when I was only 6 years old and at primary school. I won a local council competition, I can no longer remember what it was promoting but I remember being sat at a small table in a classroom laying paint thickly onto a piece of paper. The paint swirled and was gloriously glossy. I could move it around on the paper and it was thick like syrup. I loved the texture and the feel of the paint on my fingers and hands. I remember being enthralled by the possibilities of all the beautiful and entrancing colours I could mix and all the marvelous pictures I could create! I loved colour. I would doodle pictures for friends in lunch break and every school art project was a challenge and felt exhilarating. It never felt like work, it was just an expression of myself.

Artistic Influences:
I am constantly inspired by nature. When I walk with my dogs I see everything I want to paint, twisted branches and wild flowers. Endless skies swirled with color. Urban patches of ground where a tiny buttercup flourishes. I want to represent the forgotten beauty of the world. Neglected beauty which suggests human emotion and life. This also corresponds to my love of portraits and the challenge of representing emotion within them. Sometimes I just feel like painting. I try not to section myself within one genre....I like to keep myself feeling fresh with excitement about the next project. The challenge of the next creation. I initially lay paint on the canvas in a free, expressionistic manner. This builds up layers of color and develops a depth in the painting. I also find that this freedom of movement and selection of color is almost meditative and allows me to discover what I want the painting to become. I am sure these seeds of ideas then reflect in the expressionistic under painting. From this point I examine what I have and start building the painting in layers with ideas assaulting me and blossoming as the painting progresses. I work in finer detail toward the end of the painting to exaggerate focal points and bring clarity and cohesion to the final artwork. I find art a dynamic process and the artwork constantly evolves...it is never quite what I expected to paint and this element of surprise is intoxicating and holds my excitement as I work.
