Nino Pizzimenti

NINO PIZZIMENTI was born in Reggio Calabria in 1954, attended the “M. Preti" Art School and the BB.AA Academy. Of Reggio Calabria where he graduated in 1978 in the painting section.

He has been a teacher of pictorial disciplines, lives and works in Falconara.

"What I never distance myself from, making the constant foundation of my painting, is the sense of tri-colour.

modest, lively, sumptuous and always lit, until it reaches the emotion of a moment.

Emotion that I feel every time in front of a spectacle of nature, reaffirming the "non-figurative" adhesion go" of my painting.

Nature, its enchantments, its mutability constitute for me a term of comparison from which to draw new blood to avoid risking regression into simple mimesis.

These works make my beliefs about painting explicit: a fact as if poised between memory and thought, between image and abstraction.

A balance that gives rise to an ambiguous result of the "abstract concrete".

What is fundamental for me, deduced from the trend of impressionism in recent years, is the notion consolidated over time, tense between thinking of the surface as a place for non-referential painting, built and inhabited only by light, lines and colors and a never-dormant desire to reconvene on that surface, the memory not of simple appearances, but of the emotion resulting from the encounter with nature."
