In Frame series, which were inspired by the COVID pandemic and our hopes to reconnect with the world after a sustained period of isolation.
I Putu Adi Suanjaya, known in the art world as 'Kencut,' is a versatile visual artist whose creative portfolio encompasses paintings, sculptures, and installations. His artistic journey is deeply rooted in the rich traditions of Balinese art, as well as the contemporary art installations that have surrounded him throughout his life.
Kencut's work is distinguished by its primary focus on dolls as the central subjects. Through his artistry, he endeavors to breathe life into these inanimate figures by situating them within real-life scenarios. In doing so, he invites viewers to witness the dolls experiencing a spectrum of human emotions, navigating life's challenges, and savoring its joys. Notably, his works employ flat backgrounds and vibrant color palettes, creating an illustrative ambiance that encourages viewers to immerse themselves in the dolls' perspectives.
Kencut's artistic journey culminated in the attainment of his Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the Indonesia Institute of Art Yogyakarta in 2012. His work stands as a testament to his ability to bridge the traditional and the contemporary, offering viewers a unique and captivating glimpse into the world of art.

Educated at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Indonesian Arts Institute, in Yogyakarta, I Putu Adi Suanjaya "Kencut" is an artist from Bali famous for his buttonhole puppet figures. Through bold colors and lines, he presents a world of parody through his figures as a form of human reflection today. Kencut presents the subject of doll-shaped creatures with buttons that are presented in the form of paintings, sculptures and installations. It has a characteristic emphasis on contrasting colors and line strength.
The characters in Kencut's works are presented like dolls but are actually representations of humans and their lives. These inanimate puppets show a fragment scene of human life that contains a reflection on the current human situation. He has many solo exhibitions, among others: at Artotel Gajah Mada Semarang in 2020 and at Artotel Sanur in 2019. He has also participated in group exhibitions: including the Intention Please!b exhibition at Edwin Gallery, Jakarta 2020, 2019 Salon at Langgeng Art Foundation Yogyakarta, and Celebration of the Future, ABBC Building, 2019 and Art Jakarta, Rachel Gallery, 2018.
