This painting features a picturesque and vibrant urban scene, typical of a European waterfront city. The composition of the work stands out for its saturated colors and its ability to capture the tranquility and architectural beauty of this locality. The facades of the buildings, elegantly aligned along the quay, display a palette of warm and welcoming shades ranging from pale yellow to azure blue, including shades of pink and ocher. What is immediately striking is the meticulous attention to detail in the buildings. Each window, each fireplace, each stone is painted with a precision that testifies to the artist's attention to detail. The sloping roofs, with their robust chimneys, give an authentic charm to the whole. The colorful awnings at the store level, red, blue and orange, bring a touch of dynamism and liven up the scene without overwhelming it. The water in the foreground of the work faithfully reflects the buildings and the colors of the sky, creating a spectacular mirror effect. This reflection not only adds depth to the composition but also amplifies the feeling of tranquility that emanates from this urban landscape. The presence of a sailboat, peacefully moored near the buildings, reinforces this impression of serenity. The treatment of textures is also remarkable. The surfaces of the water, walls and roofs are rendered with a technique that brings each element of the painting to life. The soft light that bathes the scene seems to capture a moment frozen in time, a moment of calm and simple beauty. In short, this work stands out for its ability to convey a peaceful atmosphere and invite the viewer into detailed contemplation. It is a celebration of architecture and harmonious urban living, beautifully executed by the artist.
Native of Saint Jean D'Angely, Gyslaine Pachet-Micheneau, was first interested in drawing, then watercolor before finding her way with the oil painting performed with a knife.
Essentially landscaping, the flowers, rivers and country environment of the artist contribute to providing subjects nearby.
In unusual tones, the backwaters, the many shades of a marsh under the sun, give rise to sometimes original compositions.
The artist has a discreet but well-sensed sense of color and her relationship to blue and green delight us.
From this happy alchemy we witness the birth of a work that remains the reflection of the personality of the artist. The spirit and the light of the places are respected, the seasons are transcribed without contempt. The artist belongs to the long line of those who paint poetic reality.
The artist is a member of the House of Artists and Who's Who Art Club International.
Her painting is appraised by "Cambridge Expertise".
She appears in Drouot's listing since 2004 and has been awarded the Silver Medal by Arts.Sciences.Lettres.
