Artwork location: Italy

This intriguing artwork is a bold blend of surrealism and whimsy, featuring a peculiar anthropomorphic rabbit-like figure. This character, who exudes a decidedly human-like demeanor, is depicted sitting casually on a wooden bench, clutching a large cup with a relaxed, almost nonchalant air. Her partial nudity is tastefully rendered, contributing to the surreal quality of the scene. The rabbit wears a small, stylish hat adorned with a feather, adding a touch of personality and further blurring the lines between human and animal traits. The expressive, large eyes of the figure command attention, almost drawing the viewer into her world. Noteworthy is the meticulously detailed background, consisting of rolling green hills under a soft blue sky that gives the scene a tranquil and pastoral setting. The presence of a bottle labeled "APA" and a wooden board with sliced cheese further add layers of curiosity and narrative to the composition. These elements suggest a rustic, almost picnic-like scenario, enhancing the artwork's surreal atmosphere. The juxtaposition of the rabbit's human-like features with the bucolic setting creates a unique and thought-provoking visual experience. This piece challenges the viewer to reconsider the boundaries of reality and fiction, seamlessly blending fantastical elements with familiar domesticity in a captivating manner.

Presentation

My name's  Nina Roggeri. I was born in 1986 in the province of Bergamo, currently residing in Bonate Sopra. I attended the Liceo Artistico Statale in Bergamo, graduating in 2005. My passion for drawing and painting has been a constant throughout my life, and from a young age, I have experimented to discover a style that authentically represents me. Art has always been my chosen path, a cherished friend and steadfast companion, emerging from within me in a spontaneous and natural manner, akin to a necessity that brings me peace with myself and the world. In my works, I depict characters and settings often connected to the realm of dreams, including human figures, animals, hybrids, and fantastical creatures, aiming to give form to the mysteries of the unconscious, the most concealed and misunderstood aspects of the human psyche. My objective is to connect the observer with their inner self, as I believe it is essential for each individual to deeply understand their own "self," or at least endeavor to explore it. To create my works, I draw inspiration from the world of fantasy, which has always captivated me, as well as from memory and personal experiences, developing original concepts that, while reflecting traditional figurative representation, also resonate with elements of abstraction, surrealism, and the comic genre. Additionally, I find inspiration in ancient, medieval, rock, and metal folk music, engaging in a predominantly instinctive process that includes a well-structured and detailed preparatory pencil drawing. In the final phase, I experiment with various techniques such as oil tempera, watercolors, soft pastels, colored or graphite pencils, ink, gouache, acrylic, or oil paints, along with a range of supplementary materials that assist me in achieving the desired effects and resonate with me at that particular moment. I also engage in creative writing, and often my works serve as illustrations for my fantasy stories, ensuring that each character portrayed possesses a rich background and narrates its own tale. Through painting and writing, I bestow identity, soul, and form upon my inner world, thereby filling a small void that has accompanied me since my earliest memories, from which Thousand Fantastic Worlds emerge.
