This intriguing diptych features two portraits on a dark background, each adorned with vibrant red and gold linear designs that convey a mystical quality. The left panel showcases a hand gently cradling a rose, symbolizing delicate beauty and the transience of life, while a radiant sun radiates above, suggesting hope or enlightenment. In the right panel, hands emerge from a vessel, surrounded by symbols of infinity and celestial bodies, representing creation or transformation. The artist skillfully uses contrast between the bold colors and dark background to enhance the ethereal mood. The use of linear motifs with flowing curves suggests movement and life, inviting viewers to explore themes of nature, spirituality, and duality. This artwork stands out for its integration of symbolic elements that encourage reflection on the interconnectedness of existence.

Collector’s Guide
María José Franco Maldonado's family was her art school by the hand of Georgia O`Keefe, Elaine de Kooning, Lee Krasner, Artemisia Gentileschi, Matisse, Leonor Fini, Leonora Carrington, Louise Bourgeois, Maripaz Jaramillo, Judy Chicago, Basquiat, and so many others. She then formalized her studies in art direction and advertising in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2015, she showed her work for the very first time in three group exhibitions around New York at Shervins Café Gallery, Brooklyn Fire Proof Gallery and Greenpoint Gallery. That same year her illustrations accompanied Pilar Gualco`s literary work in Buenos Aires at Fauna Estudio Taller.
In 2017, she fell in love with embroidery. Slowly, she connected techniques and in the process dressed up a lot of weird humans. She showed her work in 2019 at Noches San Felipe and Open San Felipe with SGR and Bandy Bandy galleries in Bogotá, Colombia. Her series AFFAIR was shown at Noches del Millón, from Feria del Millón in Medellín, Colombia at the end of 2019. Closing 2019 she was lucky to have her own exhibition alongside Daniela Moreno, a great Colombian textile artist. The exhibition entitled VENTURA was held at Bandy Bandy in San Felipe, Bogotá. Her work was presented in CRYING, a group show in Australia and New Zealand at the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020, respectively.
“Nature and Femininity are always my drive. Iʼm inspired by my reality as a woman, inspired by the humans that surrounded me physically and virtually. Embroidery currently is the main focus of my work, by the hand of painting, silkscreen, digital art, illustration and a little bit of sculpture. I nurture myself from the talent of my generation and I hope to share something of what I am and what I like in every piece I create."
