Artwork location: United States
My paintings are a snapshot of a particular moment in time. Recording these moments is an act of resistance documenting places that are threatened by increased urbanization and catastrophic climate change. They are a call to preserve these places and a reminder of the important symbiotic relationship that we have with nature.

Artist Statement:
I'm drawn to the possibilities of capturing the essence of nature by examining the effects of light on form in the natural world. My paintings imply landscapes not necessarily seen, but felt. I have found that travel is an important component in my work, as it allows me to observe and compare gradients of color, light and atmosphere in different geographic areas. When I'm not traveling and seeking inspiration I spend most days painting in my studio in San Francisco. I've been an artist in residence at the Vermont Studio Center, U.S., Kamiyama Artist in Residence, Japan and the Chitraniketan Residency, India and this summer I will be at the Chalk Hill Artist Residency, Healdsburg, CA. My paintings have been exhibited nationally and internationally in galleries and art centers and are included in many private and corporate collections.
