This powerful mixed media artwork speaks to the enduring spirit of those who resist conformity and dare to be different. Inspired by the quote, "History is written with blood, sweat, and tears," the piece reflects on the quiet endurance of courageous individuals. It juxtaposes the delicate beauty of ballet with the harsh reality of forced participation in state-mandated events. The central figure, bound by chains yet inwardly strong, symbolizes the struggle for personal freedom and the unyielding courage to stand out. Despite the restraints, there is a promise of liberation as the figure prepares to spread their wings, reminding us that as long as courage remains, nothing is truly lost.

Presentation
Olga Anashkina, Emerging artist
Olga Anashkina is an interdisciplinary artist working in mediums such as ceramic sculpture, art objects, and murals. Her works always tell a story about us, our dilemmas, our society, and our inner crossroads. In her strongly narrative and thematic works, she often uses the image of a child to intensify the emotions. Placing characters either in a teacup, as seen in the sculpture "Poor Grete," or in a cage, similar to how Joseph Cornell once placed his characters in boxes, she addresses themes of freedom and personal boundaries.
The artist states, "I focus on the individual, the person who stands out from the crowd, who is fully engaged in the evolution of humanity, perhaps without even realizing it. Above all, it is a strong person who thinks and acts freely. I want to convey the most important truths to my audience, the main ones being the freedom of thought of people who are leaders, innovators, the depth and uniqueness of their emotional nature. I study the role of self-perception of such individuals and their motivation."
Her creative work was influenced by the political events in Belarus in 2020, leading to the creation of works such as "Meat Grinder of the Revolution," "I'm Listening to You," and "Poor Grete." Her artistic experiment involves the synthesis of materials that typically do not interact - conservative porcelain and ultra-modern polymer. She enjoys experimenting, and she appreciates that familiar textures can take on new meanings in her hands, as she believes that art is one of the few effective ways to reach people's hearts and minds. Today, her works receive a broad response from viewers, and she appreciates her thoughtful audience. People need to break free and become liberated, just as they are ready for her unique art about special individuals.
Among the numerous group exhibitions Olga Anashkina has participated in, notable mentions include the exhibition "Heritage and Modernity" at the New Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow and the exhibition "World Pop Art: From Warhol to Banksy" at the National Center for Contemporary Arts in Minsk.
In 2021, Olga was awarded 1st place in the International Sculpture Competition in the "Experimental Sculptural Forms" category.
