Presentation
Marina Marzepane, Emerging artist
Based in Moscow, Born 1987
Marina Marzepane is an artist with a background in mathematics and design who specializes in the styles of aesthetic minimalism and elegant abstraction. In her works, Marina explores the theme of freedom and the constraints imposed by society's thoughts and desires. Her portfolio predominantly features monochromatic works with a prevalence of black, gray, and white shades. Marina advocates for minimalism, which provides maximum freedom, space, and resources, while discarding all excess. Her artworks impart a sense of lightness and certainty, aiding in clearing one's mind of clutter and focusing on what truly matters. Marina firmly believes that the minimum amount of color is just as much as needed to convey an idea, a story, a dream, or a personal experience.
Marina does not limit herself to traditional materials in her art. In addition to acrylic, she incorporates textured paste, stucco, fabrics, metals, and sand into her works.
Her contribution to the art world is also evident in her integration of contemporary art into interior design.
Marina's work embodies abstract minimalism, acrylics, and textured paste. Her primary theme is freedom and lightness. She adheres to the principle that simplicity is genius and is convinced that every person is a work of art themselves. In her art, she often encourages viewers to answer the question: "Are they painting themselves on someone else's order, or are they a 'free artist'?"
Marina is actively involved in her artistic pursuits, which is evident in numerous media publications and her participation as an artist in the Russian TV show "Kvartirny Vopros" (Apartment Question). The show features designers renovating residential interiors, and residents do not know the final outcome.
Moreover, Marina is consciously engaged in animal welfare and environmental efforts. She provides financial support to animal shelters on a regular basis and handcrafts insulated dog houses. She also organizes charitable art sales involving works from various artists to raise funds for a shelter in the Moscow region. Additionally, she participated in a charity art sale to raise money for a child's medical treatment in Samara, Russia.
Marina graduated from the Socio-Economic Institute with a specialization in interior design. Among the many group exhibitions she has participated in, two noteworthy ones include the "Talents of Russia" exhibition at the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow in July 2022 and the "Russian Artist against War" exhibition at Artseeker Gallery in New York, USA, in April 2023.
