Presentation
Born in 1966 in Île-de-France, Christine Pillot is a citizen of the world. She has dedicated herself to painting for 35 years. She studied at the Beaux-Arts in Toulouse and at the University of Plastic Arts Bordeaux-Montaigne.
She left very early for Senegal and lived there for 20 years. She set up her studio and her residence at the Céramiques Almadies workshop in Dakar', a place of reference for international artists and cultural operators that she co-directed with Mauro Petroni. His exhibition career multiplies artistic projects for public and private spaces (commissions, scenography, design of space and objects) and his works quickly travel around the world to be exhibited in Africa, Europe and Asia. In 2005, she presented an exhibition in Krakow (Poland).
It was in 2009 that she decided to set up her studio in Bordeaux. In 2015 she created the association "La Spirale" to encourage relations between artists and the public. This trajectory engages him in a work approach centered on the place of man in the notions of space and time, the permanent evolution that nourishes the openness to the world and the importance of dualism in philosophy. Since then, she has multiplied Bordeaux exhibitions where her work is honored. In 2016, his works were exhibited at the Hôtel de Sèze in Bordeaux with the “Weavings" series. In 2019, she unveiled the “Now is gone" series at the Laboratore BX gallery and then at the L'artichaut space.
In 2020, a solo exhibition is dedicated to him at Maxwell-Baynes – Christie's International Real Estate. More recently, Laurence Pustetto's Maison Galerie has allowed her to exhibit her emblematic series entitled Indigo. With this first exhibition at the Art'Gentiers Chris Pillot allows us to revel in an artistic practice imbued with an almost intoxicating vital energy. She paints as one weaves: in a successive accumulation of lines which drape themselves, undulate on the canvas.
