Artwork location: France

"Symphony of Irises," a vibrant and expressive floral painting by French artist Natalya Mougenot, is part of her abstract series where nature and flowers are captured through her unique, emotive visual language. This particular piece belongs to her "Primavera" collection, a series of works created each spring. With the arrival of the season, Natalya seeks to showcase the splendor of spring through vivid colors and dynamic floral compositions that reflect her admiration for nature's beauty.

This work highlights three defining characteristics of Natalya's artistic approach: her bold use of colors influenced by dopamine art, the fusion of abstract and expressionist techniques, and her unwavering commitment to authenticity.

A hallmark of Natalya's style is her ability to merge abstract art with expressionism. Rejecting the constraints of rigid planning or composition, she emphasizes the importance of creative freedom—an essential aspect of her practice. For her, expressing the world as she perceives it is paramount, and this piece exemplifies that philosophy. The vibrant, dopamine-driven color palette energizes the viewer, drawing them into the emotional essence of the work.

In addition to this compelling mix of styles, the painting taps into the dopamine art trend, characterized by the use of bright, vivid colors to evoke energy and emotion. Through these colors, Natalya breathes life into her floral subjects, emphasizing their vitality and the joy that comes with spring's arrival.

Authenticity is another central theme in her art. For Natalya, it is vital to remain true to herself and her vision, allowing her to express her ideas without pretense. Simplicity further enhances this approach, focusing on the essential elements of each piece to communicate with clarity. The combination of authenticity and simplicity results in works that resonate with both aesthetic power and meaningful depth, offering an experience that is both profound and unassuming.

"Symphony of Irises" itself is a vivid explosion of color and texture. Bold brushstrokes form a dynamic harmony, with rich purples and pinks blending seamlessly with splashes of emerald green and bright yellow. The impasto technique adds a tactile dimension, inviting the viewer to explore the painting's depth and interplay of color. The upper part of the canvas features soft pinks, evoking a serene sky or distant foliage, while the lower section is filled with lush greens that suggest the earth beneath. This contrast creates a balanced, captivating composition. The abstraction within the painting invites personal interpretation, making it an engaging and interactive experience for viewers. The energetic color palette and harmonious flow reflect the inherent vibrancy and beauty of nature.

Painted with acrylics on a cotton stretched canvas, "Symphony of Irises" is finished with a special gloss varnish for protection against dust and fading. Created in Natalya's Lyon studio in 2025, it is signed on both the front and back of the painting. The artwork is sold unframed but arrives ready to hang, with photographs included to show how it complements both traditional and modern interior settings.

Available for international shipping, this work will be carefully packaged and sent from France, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

About the Artist

Natalya Mougenot, born in 1981 in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan, is a contemporary French artist whose multicultural upbringing during the Soviet era has deeply influenced her creative process. After moving to France in 2003, she began painting as a form of therapy, and her art soon evolved into a powerful medium for expressing personal experiences. Themes of resilience, women's empowerment, and modern identity permeate her work, which spans women's series, abstract compositions, landscapes, nature, and floral themes. Through her expressive brushwork and bold color choices, Natalya's art explores the complexities of contemporary life, weaving together hope and despair.

Her works are part of private collections worldwide, and her distinctive style—often influenced by art brut and naive art—resonates with viewers, offering a raw, captivating energy that encourages personal reflection and growth.

Presentation

Natalya is a contemporary  french artist living in Lyon.

She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes.

She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country.

She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now.

In her artistic practice she refers to the terms of metamodernism,  which proposes to look at the world from the position of the inner adult.

As an artist and as a woman  she translates the experience of her personal search for balance based on harmony between mind, soul and body. This balance, in her opinion,  is the pillar for the inner adult.

Important components of her work are authenticity, soulfulness, sincerity, emotionality and honesty. She immerses the objects and the characters in the world where there is no falsity, rudeness, loneliness and indifference.

She works  rapidly  and is constantly sensitive  to the details.

Her artistic process is a fine balance between a pre-meditation and spontantainty which helps her to create her expressive  atmospheric artworks with a modern touch of impressionism by cultivating a naive art approach.
