This captivating work, dated 1993, illustrates a bold and colorful approach to nature. The central subject, a stylized flower, stands proudly with its vivid red petals framed by a thick black outline, creating a striking contrast. The green leaves are rendered with expressive simplicity, adding vitality to the overall effect. The background offers an earthy palette of brown and beige shades, evoking a depth and texture that complements the liveliness of the main subject. This painting reflects a naïve yet powerfully evocative aesthetic, inviting the viewer to explore the elemental and universal beauty of plant life. The artist signs his work with confidence, marking with an energetic brushstroke a year that underscores the timelessness of the subject and the dynamism of the execution.

Presentation
Jaber El Mahjoub was born in 1938 into a family of shepherds from M'Saken in Tunisia. His childhood turns out to be perilous when his mother dies at the age of six. His sister educates him without financial means to give him access to school and the possibility of learning to read and write. At the dawn of 1958, he decided to move to Marseilles and worked as a baker. Two years later, he hit the road for the French capital. Gifted with his hands and his voice, he fashions sculptures and at the same time composes, writes and performs songs until recording two 45 rpm records with Pathé Marconi. A wealthy American is challenged by his work, she takes him to the United States, marries him and propels his career internationally.
