A pink flamingo stands, elegant and fragile, against a vibrant background of pink and white hues. Created with paint and ink, the artwork encloses a layer of ink between two sheets of transparent plexiglass. This process creates a striking translucency: depending on the light, the pink darkens and gradually engulfs the acrylic drawing of the flamingo, as if its silhouette were disappearing before our eyes.
This visual disappearance echoes the very real disappearance of the flamingos in Chile's Atacama Desert. Their population is declining due to the combined effects of climate change and the intensive mining of lithium—a mineral used in modern technology batteries, the extraction of which is drying up the lagoons where these birds feed and breed. The artwork creates a tension between the luminous beauty of the material and the ecological tragedy it evokes: a fragile mirage, both poetic and alarming.

Louis Besnier is a painter and illustrator, born in Paris in 1991. He discovered drawing at a very young age, through tales, illustrated stories by Claude Ponti and comics such as Thorgal and “Where is Charlie?". After studying Geography at the Sorbonne and then Design & Plastic Art, he joined the Maison des Artistes in 2017 and created his first collections.
After a trip to Chile and his design studies, Louis Besnier embarked on his first passions: drawing and illustration through the mass and stacking of shapes and textures. He created mini worlds, with specific themes or simply resulting from dreams.
He works primarily in acrylic and pen (a legacy of design and architecture). The supports vary, from canvas to reclaimed and recycled materials; any medium becomes a playground for free expression.
He transcribes dreamlike landscapes through the imagination, mixed with real architecture and references. Everything transforms little by little, giving way to a surreal world where several elements are hidden.
In 2024, he exhibited for the first time at the Gustave studio, but it was in October 2025 that he had his own solo exhibition at the Hôtel Marceau Bastille, an exhibition called “Balades Nocturnes", which retraces his travels through imaginary landscapes.
