Archival print cotton rag paper. Image size: 27" x 40" inches with 5" each each side white. The white is covered by a professional 5mm passe-partout. Edition of 10
This striking black and white photograph captures a natural rock arch nestled amidst rugged terrain. The composition highlights the intricate texture of the weathered stone, showcasing layers of craggy surfaces with an undulating pattern. The arch, forming a shadowy, cavernous entry, contrasts sharply against a patch of pristine white snow resting at its base. The juxtaposition of the rough, dark rock with the soft, bright snow creates a compelling visual tension, drawing the viewer's eye toward the interplay between light and shadow. This artwork uniquely captures the stark beauty of nature’s formations, emphasizing the raw and untouched aspect of the landscape. The absence of color prioritizes form and texture, inviting contemplation of the natural forces that shaped this dramatic scene. The photograph exudes a timeless quality, evoking a sense of exploration and wonder at Earth's elemental artistry.
This photos was showed at the exhibition A Fatal Pass at the Wolfsonian FIU Museum in 2015. The Exhibition was part of Myth and Machine: The First World War in Visual Culture curated by Jon Mogul always at The FIU Wolfsonian Museum in Miami Beach FL -USA. The photos were taken on the Stelvio Pass in Italy and capture the visual remains of WW1 trenches.
