What I like about aquatic photography is that you rarely come home disappointed, there is always something to take in, the light, the path, sometimes the simple moment experienced in the waves is enough.
The ocean is capricious and rarely leaves a body of water usable for more than 2 hours in Charente-Maritime. So over time you learn to let yourself be surprised and leave your expectations at home.
In these moments everything counts: the wind, the coefficient of the tide, the time, the sandbanks, the swell. The coast is wild, difficult to tame and merciless. The waves are cruel and indifferent, yet deeply familiar. As soon as we leave them, the desire to return intensifies. The relationship with the ocean is becoming stronger and stronger. You have to go there, go back there, take a look at the webcams regularly, live as close as possible, go see the water in the morning before everyone else, and stay in the evening after everyone else.
For me it's not just a job, it's getting up at dawn to go into the ocean with nothing in my stomach but the excitement of the moment to come, and waking up in the water for a second time. It's born for the day.
To let yourself drift, to be part of the movement of the water, to struggle sometimes. The ocean has this ability to dissolve our emotions, the waves wash away our ills, cool what sometimes boils inside us. Going in the water angry in the morning and coming out relaxed, with beautiful images as a result, is the most beautiful therapy.
