Professional photographer since 2000, Ronald Martinez was trained at Studio M in Montpellier, and started as a photographer-reporter at Midi Libre, then as a still photographer on the set of Mathieu Demy's film Americano. Inspired by the pictorial techniques of Renaissance painters, in particular Caravaggio's chiaroscuro, Ronald Martinez inaugurated in 2012 a series entitled Divine Nudes: Hommage à la Peinture Italienne, developed in collaboration with Choï, the shooter of Helmut Newton and Bettina Rheims. In 2013, the Divine Nudes exhibition catalog joined the libraries of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MOMA) in New York, and the European House of Photography in Paris. In 2015, he signed the cover of the Kalthoum album by Ibrahim Maalouf, with Nu Divin n ° 13. Style and reception: The subjects developed by Ronald Martinez for his Divine Nudes are sometimes of secular inspiration (The Girl with a Pearl Earring: Divine Nude n ° 22), sometimes of Christian inspiration: the Passion of Christ (Divine Nudes n ° 10 and 11), the Pietà (Divine Nude n ° 9). Made in the twilight using a single light source, his photographs are distinguished by bodies and faces cut out by direct light, standing out against a dark background and dominating in pronounced contrast. This tenebrist style inspired by Italian Baroque aesthetics, which freezes attitudes and accentuates the relief of bodies, takes up the symbolism: harsh light signals, most of the time, a metaphysical, even divine, intrusion, the darkness sending back the A man of his ignorance and his mortal condition. Ronald Martinez seeks, in his work and his technique, to blur the border between painting and photography. His works are very well received in the art market, despite his young age. On sale from 2013 (Arte Fiera 2013 - Bologna), his works are listed, from 2015, at a minimum of several thousand euros Exhibitions 2019: Solo show - Ronald Martinez, Galerie 29 Arts In Progress (Legnano, Italy ) 2018: Un certain regard sur le nu en photographie, A.Galerie (Paris, France)) 2017: Caravagistes caravagismes, Galerie Morizio Nobile (Paris - Bologna, Italy) 2017: Mia photo fair 2017, Galerie 29 Arts In Progress (Parma , Italy) 2017: solo Show - Ronald Martinez - Nocturne Rive Droite - Galerie Maurizio Nobile (Paris, France) 2017: Solo show - Ronald Martinez, Galerie 29 Arts In Progress (Milan, Italy) 2017: Mia Photo Fair - Galerie 29 Arts In Progress (Milano, Italy) 2017: 200 works for the Kurdish people (Paris, France) 2016: Woprt - Centro Esposizioni - (Lugano, Italy) 2016: Arte fiera: international contemporary art fair, Artistocratic Gallery (Bologna, Italy ) 2015: Philharmonie de Paris: Kalthoum concert - Ibrahim Maalouf exhibition n nu divin N13 (Paris, France) 2014: Divine nudes - Homage to Italian Painting - Galerie de l'Europe - (Paris, France) 2013: Arte fiera off: international contemporary art fair - Galerie Maurizio Nobile (Bologna, Italy) 2012: Nocturne Rive Droite - Nus Divins - Homage to Italian Painting, Galerie Maurizio Nobile (Paris, France) Book: Co-Author with Elodie Suigo on Mathieu Chedid's 20 years of career book - Editions Hachette - Released 2019 Publication: Ronald Martinez, Exhibition catalog Nus Divins Hommage a?
