"RED" Polyptych ed: Limited edition 4 of 5 Installation #1 #7 #6 #4 #12 M Archival pigment print Overall size 60 in. H x 200 in. W Individual Size 60" H x 40" W Edition of 5 Unframed.
Although a great deal of David jay body of work focuses on often hidden aspects of the human condition. loss, pain, suffering, war. . . He constantly reminds himself that the opposite is also true: Thankfully, at every moment. there is also great beauty, levity, freedom, and love. RED! is his ode to that.
This striking artwork consists of a series of five dynamic photographs capturing the fluidity and essence of movement. The subject, seemingly suspended in time, showcases vibrant red hair flowing gracefully against a stark white background. Each frame depicts a different stage of motion, illustrating a continuous, almost balletic gesture. The hair, a vivid contrast to the minimalist backdrop, seems to dance independently, its strands creating mesmerizing patterns. This visual narrative exudes a sense of freedom and spontaneity, inviting the viewer to contemplate the interplay of stillness and motion. The artist's meticulous attention to detail and composition accentuates the ethereal quality of the piece, transforming a simple act into a captivating display of elegance and energy. This work stands out for its ability to convey movement and emotion while maintaining a cohesive and harmonious aesthetic.
