Presentation
Nasce il 10 Dicembre 1935 a Vò di Padova. Nel 1949, trasferitosi a Bologna, dove risiede attualmente, frequenta il locale Istituto d'Arte. Si interessa di architettura e di grafica pubblicitaria. Nel 1955 è a Parigi per perfezionarsi nello studio della pubblicità nell'atèlier di Sepo, con il quale nel 1960 fonda a Bologna la Scuola d'Arte Pubblicitaria dedicata a suo padre, Mario Pozzati. E' assistente all'Istituto d'Arte di Bologna e dal 1956 al 1967 insegna grafica pubblicitaria. Nel 1962 e nel 1964 realizza alcune scenografie per i teatri stabili. Dal 1967 insegna all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Urbino, che poi dirige fino al 1973. Insegna anche all'Accademia di Firenze e, attualmente, è titolare di una cattedra di pittura dell'Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna. E' inoltre Accademico di San Luca, ed è stato assessore alla Cultura del Comune di Bologna dal 1993 al 1996.
Dal 1955 partecipa alle principali manifestazioni nazionali e internazionali, ottenendo numerosi premi e riconoscimenti. Dal 1960 scrive su numerose riviste specializzate, interessandosi ai problemi di critica e teoria dell'arte viste dalla parte del pittore.
Organizza e cura personalmente, in collaborazione con altri pittori e critici, mostre di arte italiana e straniera in Musei in Italia e all'estero.
Tiene personali a Bologna, Milano, Roma, Genova, Napoli, Firenze, Brescia, Padova, Venezia, Bari, Pesaro, Trieste, Udine, Ascoli, Modena, Mantova, Messina, Torino, Livorno, Fano, Dusseldorf; Belgrado, Zagabria, Graz, Lubiana, New York, Friburgo, Johannesburg, Brema, Parigi, Basilea, Bruxelles, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Francoforte, Ulm, Bonn, Copenhaghen, San Paolo del Brasile, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Valencia.
Tra le mostre antologiche più significative a lui dedicate si segnalano: Biennali di Venezia del '64,'72,'82, "Pozzati 1958-1968" presso la Pinacoteca e l'Università di Parma al Palazzo della Pilotta di Parma, 1968; Palazzo Grassi, Venezia, 1974; Palazzo delle Esposizioni di Roma, 1976; Galleria d'Arte Moderna Palazzo Forti, Verona, 1986; San Paolo del Brasile 1987; Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Parigi, 1989; Galleria Comunale d'Arte Moderna, Bologna, 1991; Graflke 1959-1992", Galrija Tivoli, Ljubljana; Palazzo Massari, Ferrara e Pinacoteca dei Concordi, Rovigo, 1997;
Realizza infine numerose cartelle personali di grafica, libri d'autore con grafiche originali e altre cartelle insieme a vari autori, tra gli altri: Mirò, Fontana, Tàpies, Vedova, Dorazio, Wunderlich, Scanavino, Saura, Melotti, Novelli, Schifano, Adami, Bay, Bendini, Dova, Guerreschi, Genoves, Del Pezzo, Tadini, Nespolo, Cuniberti, Paladino, De Vita, Sanfilippo. Muore a Bologna, il 1° Agosto 2017.
