This captivating artwork features a bold and contrasting juxtaposition of two iconic visual elements. In the foreground and center is Mickey Mouse, the iconic character of the Disney universe, expertly painted. The choice of bright colors for Mickey, including the red of his shorts and the yellow of the background, creates a striking dynamic that immediately captures the viewer's attention. Mickey is depicted in a triumphant and cheerful pose, illustrating his optimistic and timeless character. Behind this central character, two faces can clearly be seen in profile, in black and white, evoking a classic cinematic style. These portraits add an intriguing and mysterious depth to the work. The duality of expressions and the juxtaposition of faces add a psychological, even surreal, dimension to the composition. The dark pink stripe that separates the two parts of the image acts as a striking contrast, simultaneously connecting and dividing the two elements. The skillful use of this vibrant tone, combined with the rays emanating from the yellow background behind Mickey, creates a visual effect of radiance and illumination. This iconoclastic and layered ensemble demonstrates remarkable technical mastery and a refined artistic sensibility. The work questions as much as it enchants, blending popular cultural references with classical elements to create a piece that is both familiar and mysterious. This painting is a fine example of an aesthetic fusion, connecting different eras and styles to produce a unique and memorable work.

Presentation
In the tradition of great production designers (Alexandre Trauner, Ken Adam), Dean Tavoularis has discreetly established himself in the history of cinema, leaving his mark on around thirty films, including almost the entire work of Francis F. Coppola.
Trained at Disney (Lady and the Tramp, Mary Poppins), this son of Greek immigrants, settled in California, took drawing and architecture classes, before materializing the plans of Arthur Penn (Bonnie and Clyde, Little Big Man) and Michelangelo Antonioni (Zabriskie Point). Each of his shoots requires long hours of location scouting and documentary research, his secret for defining the opaque atmosphere of The Godfather or the humidity of Apocalypse Now, the misty exteriors of Hammett by Wim Wenders or the coquettish interiors of Carnage, his last film, directed by Roman Polanski in 2011. Since then, in Paris where he lives with the actress Aurore Clément, Dean Tavoularis paints canvases which he exhibits alongside the storyboards of his brother Alex, the very ones which were used studying the settings of his films.
