"A Private Look at the Story of Alice in Wonderland"

The series of works entitled "Alice's Garden" was inspired by years of proximity to the side effects of psychotropic drugs prescribed by traditional medicine to relieve physical and existential pain. Drawing a parallel between Lewis Carroll's stories "Alice in Wonderland" and "Alice in the Mirror" - published respectively in 1865 and 1871 - with a bias of the reality of people who use medication and drugs nowadays, our Alice can be defined as any individual who has fragile health and uses psychotropic drugs to relieve pain, thus living with the side effects. In the stories cited above, Alice tries to understand and situate herself in an unknown world using substances that alter brain chemistry to experience the situation presented to her. Nowadays, our Alice seeks not to feel physical or emotional pain and is fully aware of the voracity of the medical-pharmaceutical industry that encourages addiction to psychoactive drugs. She fears other people's judgment in a society that barely tolerates physical or mental imperfections. But both question the logic of this disturbing world that makes them abolish the suffering and emptiness generated by an inner feeling of inadequacy; simultaneously, they participate in everyday reality, meaningless and threatening, through drugs."
