During a trip to Texas, the Guinet Brothers decided to discover the Enchanted Rock natural park. There they discover an exceptional and unreal landscape. In the middle of nowhere, immense pink granite rock formations appear.
They walked along the barren and stony paths under a blazing sun. After a few hours, no longer able to take this Texan heat, they seek protection in a shaded area.
It was then that at the bend of a path, behind a dry bush, they saw a cavity. After a moment of hesitation, they decided to go and explore this strange cave which seemed to have never been discovered and yet so close to the trails of the natural park...
After about twenty meters and after passing through several small rooms they reached a huge space. One of them tripped and almost injured himself when he hit a protuberance.
They couldn't believe their eyes: a detailed shape emerging from the breathtaking granite! It was then that they looked around at this fascinating place and understood that it was not a small discovery.
They were in the presence of several hundred sculptures of unknown origin.
After years of analysis and research on both the objects and the drawings on the walls of the cave, here are the answers and explanations of this fabulous discovery:
We are in the year - 20000 in the middle of the Upper Paleolithic period, the longest period of prehistory. A small group of homo sapiens nicknamed the “visionary sculptors" express their thoughts of the future by carving the most unrealistic objects of the time from rock.
Even today we wonder about the techniques they employed and the tools they used.
One thing is certain, their visions were not always clear and they did not necessarily have the concepts of volumes.
This would explain why many objects are not finished being sculpted and why their shapes are not always consistent. Some discoveries are unknown to us, are they objects that we will make in the future or objects found on other planets? The mystery still remains...
The Guinet Brothers visual artists stage this fiction, working in the field of sculpture and minimalism. They create their works linking rock and everyday objects.
The past mingling with the present, the Guinet Brothers freeze the artifacts of this millennium in the rock.
