After the first edition in 3D printing, Galerie 54 Dunkerque wanted to give a new dimension to the Bibendum figurine created by Pablo Dalas. The idea of transforming this piece into bronze stemmed from a desire for quality, realized through a meticulous search for the appropriate provider, while ensuring entirely French production. This work, crafted using the traditional lost-wax technique, is available in three distinct finishes.
Here are the presentation details: The piece weighs 2 kg, measures 20 cm in height, and is available in 8 copies for each patina: waxed black, verdigris, and polished. Made of cast bronze using a traditional technique, it is produced without any post-casting welding. From the original drawing by Pablo Dalas to the 3D modeling by Laurent Allard, through to the molding and casting in a foundry in Savigneux, this sculpture is entirely made in France.
Each piece is signed under the left foot and numbered under the right foot using an engraving technique. The patinas are achieved through oxidation, without any paint. The pieces are delivered in a light birch box with a sliding lid and two laser engravings. Each copy requires 6 weeks of production.
The artist Pablo Dalas dedicates his work to the appropriation and diversion of figures from popular culture. Here, he brings the iconic Bibendum, mascot of the Michelin company, back to life in a strange and unique version. The subject of the work and the contemporaneity of the representation contrast with the production technique, which remains faithful to a very ancient craftsmanship.
This piece is produced by Galerie 54 Dunkerque.

Presentation
Pablo Dalas was born in France in 1990, he lives and works in Brussels.
Fascinated by the cartoon world of the 1920s, Pablo draws his inspiration from the work of Dave and Max Fleischer, creator of Popeye, Betty Boop… One of the few animation studios to survive silent film.
Other cartoonists like Robert Crumb, creator of Fritz the Cat's and Ralph Bakshi, animator and director of the feature film of the same name, gave him a taste for subversion. Because indeed, this cult animated film holds two records! It is the first American cartoon to have been X-rated and the second, to exceed 100 million in revenue with independent studio status.
The cult characters of Walt Disney (pluto, the seven dwarfs), Tex Avery (the wolf), Otto Messmer (Felix the cat) and the advertising mascots, will be his main source of inspiration. He hijacks the familiar figures of his childhood to portray a society rife with overabundance and excess.
A multifaceted artist, Pablo seems overwhelmed by his characters who come to life on different media. From skin to wall painting, through ceramics and cartoons.
