The artwork on the cover of this edition of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" is a visually captivating collage that intricately weaves together the whimsical elements of Lewis Carroll's iconic tale. Featuring illustrations inspired by Sir John Tenniel, the composition captures the surreal and enchanting essence of Wonderland. Central to the artwork is Alice herself, depicted in multiple scenes, each showcasing her curiosity and courage as she navigates this fantastical world. Her expressions and movements convey a sense of wonder and bewilderment, which are integral to her character's journey. Surrounding Alice are a host of peculiar and memorable Wonderland inhabitants. The Mad Hatter, with his exaggerated hat and animated gestures, stands out prominently, embodying the madness that pervades the tea party scene. The White Rabbit, in his perpetual hurried state, adds a dynamic sense of urgency and chaos to the composition. The Queen of Hearts is depicted with her characteristically domineering presence, adding an air of tension and authority. The Cheshire Cat, with his enigmatic grin, appears as an ethereal presence, reinforcing the story's theme of ambiguity and mystery. Each element of the artwork is richly detailed, with vibrant colors and intricate patterns enhancing the fantastical atmosphere. The amalgamation of scenes and characters creates a sense of movement and energy, drawing the viewer into the chaotic and dreamlike world of Wonderland. This cover serves not only as an introduction to Carroll's story but as an artistic celebration of its enduring imagination and charm.

Presentation

Robert Robinson is an American artist born in 1960 who lives and works in London, UK. He creates 3-D media artworks using comic book encyclopedias. With a conceptual approach, various overlapping themes and strategies are presented. Various subject matter can be recognised, such as the relationship of pop culture and media, the juxtaposition of good versus evil, and imagery evoking memories from our past. By using current popular theme of the super hero, he tries to create a novel way in which to display comic book art. Robert uses the comic book artwork in a multi- layered way, setting the stage to involve the viewer in a way that is sometimes whimsical. The character, shape or content of the presented artwork is secondary. By applying specific combinations and certain manipulations, different functions and/or contexts are created. Each comic book sculpture is configured with the characters from the book itself. The images are stabilized in place. The book is sealed in order to protect the design and is fitted with a perspex pane behind the cover. The artwork is ready-to-hang and signed by the artist. His works often refers to pop and mass culture. Using drawn symbols, a world where light-heartedness rules is created.
