This artwork presents a striking visual amalgamation within a circular cutout on a worn brown cover, creating an intriguing contrast between the outer simplicity and the inner complexity. The circular scene bursts with a crowded assembly of intricately detailed human figures, each rendered with a meticulous hand, contributing to an engagingly chaotic tableau. Hues of red, black, and white intermingle, lending depth and an almost theatrical drama to the piece. At the center, a large, enigmatic face emerges, overseeing the ensemble with an intense gaze. Below, numerous figures are depicted in varying postures, their expressions captured mid-conversation or contemplation, suggesting a dynamic narrative unfolding within the confined space. The artwork stands out due to its seamless integration of elements within the circular boundary, drawing the viewer's eye inward and inviting contemplation of the relationships and stories between the depicted characters. This clever use of space and detail, combined with the evocative color palette, compels the viewer to explore the layered complexities of human interaction and emotion encapsulated within this captivating visual narrative.

Collector’s Guide
Alexander Korzer-Robinson is a UK-based artist whose work transforming antiquarian books has brought him international acclaim. Working mainly in collage and related techniques, the practice's focus are sculptural artworks made from antiquarian books.
The base material for his "cut book sculptures" are old books that have been stripped of their utilitarian value by the passage of time. Working through a book, page by page, a new composition is formed using only the contents of the original volume.
Alexander Korzer-Robinson: 'The use of antiquarian books makes the work at the same time an exploration and a deconstruction of nostalgia. We create our own past from fragments of reality in a process that combines the willful aspects of remembering and forgetting with the coincidental and unconscious.'
