With his works, the artist tirelessly talks about his cultural heritage and his inner world. Faithful to a mode of dialogue all his own, Jérôme talks about his works, which he names by numbers, not as representations of spirits, but as spirits, intrinsically. Each canvas, each drawing thus escapes any appropriation by existing by itself. No incarnation, no distancing or incantation, but a frontal dialogue from being to being, each spirit, there, present, guides us to our forgotten shores.
His plastic universe is made of superimposed textures, papers and fabrics, he mixes painting, graphics and collage. He grabs the material, works it, grinds it, transforms it, destroys it and recomposes it.
His artistic approach is also centered around different used fabrics of recovery, painted supports torn, cut, scraped then sewn.
Fascinated by memory, curious about the future, Sainte Luce goes back and forth between past and project, allowing herself complete freedom of tone, practice, technique, at the moment, here and now.
The result is above-ground works, but not only celestial, bewitching and inviting: the intangible pwinegs seem to come from clay, air and water.

Born in 1981 in Perpignan, Jérôme Sainte-Luce studied Applied Arts at Rivières Des Pères, then Plastic Arts in 1999, After some experiences in Spain and then in Ardèche, he obtained a DSAA - design specialty - at the École Éstienne de Paris in 2002. Trainer of Applied Arts since 2009, he works in different centers on the island of Guadeloupe.
Since 2009, notably with the exhibition “Les Âmes Gravées”, Sainte-Luce has been developing visual research, revisiting Amerindian culture, a unifying element of the history and heritage of the Caribbean area. Indeed, “haunted” by the loss of memory, the artist tirelessly circumvents these Amerindian engraved stones and asks the question of “the other state” after the death of man, and therefore the question of the trace left. .. what remains in spite of everything, after the extinction of an entire civilization.
