This exquisite painting has been created by Ramesh Bariya, a member of the Bhil tribal community, the second largest in western and central India. Ramesh is the eldest son of Bhuri bai Bariya famous Bhil artist. He has learnt painting from his mother at an early age.
The tradition of painting began from their homes where the walls were adorned in images of myth and folklore. Living close to nature and leading an agricultural life, their art-work reflects their natural environment that guides the harvest and the gods they turn to for protection.
