In this fascinating work, the artist transports us into a dreamlike universe imbued with mysticism and poetry. The composition, of remarkable finesse and delicacy, reveals a floating female figure, suspended in an ethereal space with greenish and golden tones. The young woman, naked, seems in perfect symbiosis with her mysterious environment. On her shoulders spread sumptuously decorated wings, evoking the elegance of mythological creatures. The meticulous details of the golden feathers of the wings bring a magical touch and reinforce the supernatural character of the scene. The posture of the figure, with her long shimmering hair floating around her and her hands delicately stretched towards abstract fish, suggests a moment of contemplation or daydreaming. The stars that delicately dot her skin and the surrounding space add a celestial dimension, as if the character were in an aquatic cosmos where an intimate harmony reigns between the sky and the water. Below her, two fish, one in a sphere and the other free, seem to silently dialogue with this angelic apparition, adding a notion of mystery and spirituality. Presentation
Born in 1957 in Grenoble (France), Anne-Marie Vesco lives and works in Montreuil, a suburb of Paris. Graduated from the Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) of Cachan dept of Fine and Applied arts, from 1995 to 2011, she taught at Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d'Art (ENSAAMA) in Paris. She has been an independent artist since 2011.Anne-Marie Vesco's works are in several private collections (in Europe, Japan, Lebanon, China…) and in Public Contemporary Collections of Montreuil (2003 purchase) and Fontenay-sous-Bois (2009 purchase), in France.
Anne-Marie Vesco’s series Nothing and its Opposite (Rien et son Contraire), started in 2012, is comprised of small objects picked up by chance along the way or discovered at flea markets. There is an on-going dialogue between these and her drawings and paintings.Captured under transparent resin, her collections of objects no longer reflections but the things themselves are infinitely poetic, by this work she has created a bridge between Contemporary visual and Outsider - singular art.
Her contribution to the arts (theatre, music and dance), has been considerable.
