Presentation
Born in 1950 in Vitry-le-François in France,
"The visual arts have always fascinated me, and the pleasure of practicing some of them, such as drawing, oil painting or watercolor, transported me to a serene state.
Stone sculpture preceded clay modeling, which I began by attending three Marne art workshops: that of the visual artist Aline Ozenfant, then by taking classes with the Chalon sculptor Juan Carlos Carrillo, and finally the Jules Verne workshop of the ceramist François Le houx.
For a number of years, I have worked alone but I continue to frequent the Jules Verne workshop for firing, glazing, and raku.
My sources of inspiration are unlimited because they are based on both humans and animals, both words and events, both a bookish character and a myth. I can start with a live model, a photo, a mental image, a feeling... and off I go to create the work, which can last from a week to a month. I don't stop modeling until it's finished! Each sculpture contains its own problem to solve, therefore a challenge to overcome.
I often proceed by theme:
The cat in all its states (my feline serves as my model most of the time because she brings me back to the present!)…
Animal sculptures: chickens, bears, squirrels, hedgehogs, cats, prairie dogs, wolves, dogs, etc.
The human body which expresses itself through a detail, an attitude, an expression, a movement… the human with feelings, emotions…
Mythologies: Celtic, Greek, Native American, Asian, African…
Asia with Japan, China, India…
The Americas, the Antilles...
