Artwork location: France

French artist Natalya Mougenot's expressive and vibrant painting, "Cactus in the Sun", is part of her early works from 2020, a period during which she delved into the world of nature using bright, bold colors. This piece reflects Natalya's exploration of the dopamine art trend, which focuses on vivid hues to evoke emotional responses and stimulate positivity. For Natalya, vivid colors are essential tools for breathing life into her subjects, transforming simple elements of nature into dynamic works of art.

One of the defining features of Natalya's practice is her ability to intertwine authenticity and simplicity. Her approach reflects a desire to create art that is both deeply personal and straightforward in its message. Natalya believes that true artistic expression can be best achieved through simplicity—eliminating unnecessary distractions to convey something pure and unforced. In doing so, her authenticity shines through, allowing viewers to engage with her work in a direct and meaningful way. The simplicity of her art creates space for deeper emotional connection, inviting viewers to appreciate not only the visual impact but also the conceptual depth.

For Natalya, authenticity means being true to herself and her ideas, while simplicity focuses on distilling a piece to its essential elements to communicate clearly and effectively. When these two principles come together, they result in art that is both aesthetically powerful and rich in meaning—offering a profound, unpretentious experience for the viewer.

Looking closely at "Cactus in the Sun",  this vibrant piece captures the lush, vivid essence of a sprawling cactus landscape. The towering green cacti, adorned with delicate white flowers and yellow blossoms, create a striking contrast against the brilliant azure sky. Natalya's dynamic brushstrokes imbue the scene with a sense of movement and vitality, emphasizing the grandeur and beauty of the desert flora. The varying shades of green—from deep emerald to bright lime—create depth and texture, highlighting the unique structure of each cactus. The swirling sky, with its breezy hues, adds to the overall sense of tranquility and natural harmony. This artwork stands out for its lively portrayal of desert life, merging elements of realism with expressive brushwork, and inviting viewers to engage with both the details and the exuberant energy of the piece.

Painted with acrylic paints on heavyweight, professional, acid-free paper, "Cactus in the Sun" is finished with a special gloss varnish to protect it from dust and fading. Signed on both the front and back of the painting, this piece is sold unframed.

Photographs of the artwork displayed in various interior settings are included, offering inspiration for how it can enhance both traditional and modern spaces. Available for international shipping, the painting will be carefully packaged and sent from France, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Presentation

Natalya is a contemporary  french artist living in Lyon.

She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes.

She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country.

She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now.

In her artistic practice she refers to the terms of metamodernism,  which proposes to look at the world from the position of the inner adult.

As an artist and as a woman  she translates the experience of her personal search for balance based on harmony between mind, soul and body. This balance, in her opinion,  is the pillar for the inner adult.

Important components of her work are authenticity, soulfulness, sincerity, emotionality and honesty. She immerses the objects and the characters in the world where there is no falsity, rudeness, loneliness and indifference.

She works  rapidly  and is constantly sensitive  to the details.

Her artistic process is a fine balance between a pre-meditation and spontantainty which helps her to create her expressive  atmospheric artworks with a modern touch of impressionism by cultivating a naive art approach.
