"The Bear by Pompon, Yves Klein Edition" is a captivating work of art that combines the iconic sculpture of François Pompon with the distinctive artistic style of Yves Klein. This collaboration resulted in a unique and thought-provoking piece that reflects the artistic sensibilities of both artists.

The sculpture itself portrays a bear, crafted with meticulous attention to detail and a sense of grandeur. Pompon's expertise in sculpting wildlife is evident in the bear's realistic form and texture. The use of pristine white marble or stone further enhances the sculpture's elegance and purity, capturing the essence of Pompon's artistic vision.

Yves Klein, known for his pioneering work in the realm of monochrome art, brings his signature artistic touch to the piece. The bear, initially conceived as a traditional representation of an animal, undergoes a transformative process under Klein's influence. By applying his trademark vibrant blue pigment, known as "International Klein Blue," Klein introduces an element of mysticism and otherworldliness to the sculpture.

The integration of "International Klein Blue" serves as a visual metaphor, inviting viewers to contemplate the bear's symbolism in the context of the human experience. The juxtaposition of a serene, powerful creature with a vivid blue hue encourages introspection and challenges conventional notions of art and representation.

"The Bear by Pompon, Yves Klein Edition" exemplifies the creative dialogue between two visionary artists, each renowned in their respective fields. It merges Pompon's expertise in sculpture and the beauty of nature with Klein's groundbreaking exploration of color and its emotional impact. The resulting artwork is an evocative fusion of traditional and contemporary art, provoking contemplation and inspiring a sense of wonder in those who engage with it.

Presentation

The collaboration between the Fondation Yves Klein and the Archives François Pompon has given birth to an emblematic piece: L'Ours Ponpon, merging the work of two great artists, François Pompon and Yves Klein.

Yves Klein, born on April 28, 1928 in the south of France, grew up near Nice in a family of artists. Self-taught, he devoted most of his career to the aesthetic expression of "emptiness". His exploration of the concept of "the totality of things" led him to an ultimate simplification, represented by the famous IKB (International Klein Blue), freed from the constraints of line on his monochrome canvases. Yves Klein died in 1962, leaving behind him a major artistic legacy that has gone down in the history of contemporary art.

François Pompon, born May 9, 1855 in Saulieu, studied architecture and sculpture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Dijon. Moving to Paris in 1874, he devoted his life to learning and practicing his craft. In his work, form was subordinate to light, enhanced by a smooth surface finish. His breakthrough came at the age of 67 with his White Bear, exhibited at the Salon d'Automne in 1922.
