Motte

Born in 1980, in Decize (Nièvre), Motte grew up in Rhône-Alpes in the countryside. From higher education, a more urban life opened up to him: Lyon, Roanne then Clermont-Ferrand.

After a first year at the Beaux Arts in Lyon, Motte headed towards a professional course of study. He obtained a diploma in Applied Arts, specializing in graphic design/editing and advertising, then a degree in fashion design.

He started in textile design, then artistic direction in a communications agency, and in marketing direction in the automobile industry. But creativity fades over professional years in favor of figures and files. Painting and drawing in free time is no longer enough.

Summer 2016, his participation in the anniversary fresco of the tramway (Cézeaux campus), pushed him to create his mural painting activity. He has since created commissioned frescoes for individuals, businesses, public actors, or even educational workshops, etc.

These inspirations are numerous: travel, comics and comics, punk and hip-hop movements, counterculture and popular subcultures, classic and contemporary children's stories, popular American cinema, pulp culture, etc.

Motte has been drawing since he was very young, drawing, gouache and watercolors, reproduction of classic works or comic strips. As a teenager, he discovered counterculture and alternative cultures; vandal graffiti gave him his first steps in mural painting.

During artistic studies, the production of collective works and group graffiti led him towards achievements that were both illustrative and narrative.

Today, his time is punctuated between work in the workshop for the production of works for gallery or exhibition, in a colorful and pop atmosphere, mixing illustration/typography/humor, naive watercolor illustrations or realistic inks,... and the “outdoor" work on murals.
