René Fumeron

France  • 1921  - 2004

Presentation

Fumeron made his first boxes (he made more than 500) in the 1940s, collaborating with the Pinton workshops, then receiving numerous orders from the State, before participating in the decoration of the “France” liner. Initially figurative, and influenced by Lurçat, he evolved towards abstraction, before returning to colorful and realistic figuration from the 1980s.

Strangely, if the title is naturalistic, the cardboard leans towards abstraction, in a sort of purity of Fumeron's figurative cartoons where we can still recognize the yellow-sun circle characteristic of the artist.
