Frédéric Babon

Frédéric Babon, painter and designer was born in 1962. Self-taught, he began his artistic work very early on, alongside the young generation of Hérault artists (Bocaj, Loubas, Routier). He finds his main sources of inspiration in Dado, Belmère and even Fred Deux. His pretext is his peregrinations of bargain hunters to find old maps, technical or scientific engravings, rolls for mechanical pianos, original scores, which will be the bases of his freehand drawing work, without repentance and without preparatory sketch, in ink. of China and watercolor. He works on the principle of the palimpsest. His rewritings, accumulation of lines in color or not, come to interpret this raw material irrigated with a universal knowledge which then takes a dreamlike turn.
