Ghislaine Escande was born in Saintes, Charente-Maritime, lives and works in Ivry-sur-Seine.

Since 1990, my technique is essentially that of paper mounted on canvas enhanced by glazes in paint.

From 1998, the landscape becomes global, the world decomposes and recomposes itself. The raw material becomes cartographic. The maps of geography used are of all origins. Worn through travel in space and time, they have been abandoned. I took it to make them reborn and my painting is part of the journey; fast and slow, uncertain and controlled, calm or tempestuous, she runs on canvas and digs, always guided by maps that show her the road.

The trip is also that of the painter. Entering the realm of cards is opening up points of view. My latest works are "portraits" and "landscapes" of the world, but they give themselves as riddles to decipher, endowed with a meaning to discover through the miscegenation of the world today.
